Pre-Alpha Progress Update 6: End of Feb is when!?!
How is it already 26 Feb…?
I have made a decent amount of progress for where I want to be for the end of the month Alpha Demo release, but I wish I had been further. That said, I think we have a mostly playable game that shows the concepts and ideas, and will be a good base to continue working on.
Going back to when I last updated the list, this is where we are at, with progress and new items added:
[x] Pause Menu with Help Screen
[x] Passive Skills
[x] Skill Upgrades
[x] Skill Replacement (logic)
[x] Skill Replacement (UI)
[ ] Skill Unlocks (progression)
[x] Actual Dice models
[x] More enemies and bosses
[x] Sounds
[ ] Visual/particle effects
[ ] Floating Damage Text
[ ] Improved Animations (variety and timing)
The unplanned items that were added and are also done includes:
- Reworked dice rolls and probabilities
- Reworked crit and fumble mechanics
- More skills added
- New models for player and enemies
- A real level, not just a plane and a wall
I would love to still add controller support and proper tutorials, but for now there are more important things to finish.
I also think I’ll try and make a few updates once I’ve released, because some of the above aren’t required for release, they are just the goals I set for myself and will improve the experience (like animation fixes).
So that’s it, I’m still pushing hard. I’m going camping with my wife from 1 March, so the 29 Feb deadline is a hard deadline, and I’ll keep pushing, so watch this space.
I probably won’t be able to record a video update for a bit, so here are some screenshots instead to show off the latest progress ^_^
