Pre-Alpha Progress Update 7: Getting close...


So this is just a quick update to say that I think I am mostly on track with everything. From the last update, there were a few incomplete items, namely

  • Skill Unlocks (progression) <- this is now done, finishing a run randomly unlocks one of three skills (for a total of 4 swappable skills)
  • Visual/particle effects <- I’m not gonna get to this, it would’ve been nice, but I’m just not familiar enough with how particles work to get the effect I want, and the Asset pack I liked is too expensive, waiting for a sale…
  • Floating Damage Text <- done, with some variations for damage, crits and healing, but lots of room for improvement
  • Improved Animations (variety and timing) <- variety is done, timing fixes are not; I know exactly what I need (want) to do for this, but given the time I have left before the end of the month and before going on vacation, timing fixes aren’t happening yet.

I also have the builds working on Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android. For the time being I had to lock the game to a 16:9 aspect ratio, had some weirdness on 21:9 monitors that I haven’t quite been able to solve.

But with this latest build I’m 90% where I wanted to be, and that I feel is already pretty impressive.

So keep an eye out, the plan is to make a release early on 1 March.
